Verify any clip without leaving the page

Watching something suspicious on Instagram, TikTok, X or Reddit? Grab it in one click — full-resolution, straight from your own logged-in session — and get a ClipForensics verdict. No copy-paste, no “this video is private” walls, and none of the download failures that URL scanning hits on locked-down platforms.

Why a manual install? Our one-click Chrome Web Store listing is in review. Until it’s approved, you can side-load the same extension yourself in about a minute — the steps below are a little clunky, but it works today on Chrome and Edge.
Download extension (.zip)

Chrome & Edge · free · v1.0.1

  1. 1

    Download & unzip

Download the extension below and unzip it. Remember the folder — you’ll point the browser at it in a moment.

  2. 2

    Open your extensions page

Go to chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions in Microsoft Edge) in the address bar.

  3. 3

    Turn on Developer mode

Flip the "Developer mode" toggle in the top-right corner.

  4. 4

    Load unpacked

Click "Load unpacked", then select the unzipped folder. ClipForensics appears in your toolbar — pin it and you’re done.

What it can — and can’t — do

The extension only acts when you click it. It transmits the specific video clip you choose to verify (and requires you to be signed in to ClipForensics). It does not collect your browsing history, keystrokes or personal information, and does not sell your data. Full detail is in our extension privacy policy.

Developer-mode / side-loaded extensions don’t auto-update. Once our Chrome Web Store listing is approved we’ll switch this page to a one-click “Add to Chrome” install with automatic updates.
